Hello. I have a baby. She is beautiful. I am tired. I am elated. I am married to THE most incredible man in the WORLD, whom I am more in love with each second. We now are the proud parents of an incredible little miracle.
Labor started 4am Monday morning (on my Aunt's b'day, and Andrew's g'parents's anniversary). Hard labor set on at 1pm. Our baby girl, Olivia, was born at 5:42pm. God provided EXACTLY what we needed at the EXACT right time. We changed care providers on my due date last Tuesday - May 3rd, and Monday, May 9th, we we welcomed our precious baby into the world in a birthing tub in comfort of our own home. 14 hours of labor (2 of which were pushing!) w/ no medication other than the comfort of my wonderful husband, supportive doula and birthing team, and an incredibly loving Lord to see me through. Unmedicated childbirth isn't for everyone, or always an option, but for us, it was an unbelievably humbling and blessed experience.
I AM ALL THAT IS WOMAN. (hehe)
I don't really know how much sleep I've gotten in the past few hours...urr...days, but I DO know that we now have a gorgeous baby girl and she is so worth all the hard work and exhaustion.
I also know that a shower is a rather fantastic event to savor, and that doing something like writing a brief blog in between what seems near constant nursing and general exhaustion can help maintain one's sense of sanity after such a whirlwind of newness.
God is good and we have an 8 pound, 6 ounce miracle as proof of His love and faithfulness. We are humbled, extremely blessed and so very grateful.
P.S. Have I mentioned how beautiful my girl is?! And what an amazing husband I have?! AND that my Mom has made THE most incredible postpartum nurse anyone could ask for?!
